Acne occurs when the sebaceous glands secrete too much oil. Also described as an inflammatory disorder of the sebaceous (oil ) glands, located under the skin. Acne commonly referred to as pimples spots or zits. When a person suffers from facial acne there is no hiding it. Acne begins to affect several body part, face, back, neck or chest.

Acne is most common during adolescence, affecting more than 85% of teenagers, and frequently continues into adult hood. Most of the time acne will disappear by themselves at the end of adolescence but if acne becomes severe, it should be treated to prevent scarring. If acne appear in adulthood may be a sign of hormonal imbalance or drug toxicity.

As women get older, acne often gets better. But some women have acne for many years. Some women even get acne for the first time at age 30 or 40.

For many women, acne can be an upsetting illness. Women may have feelings of depression, poor body image, or low self-esteem. But you do not have to wait to outgrow acne or to let it run its course. Today, almost every case of acne can be resolved. Acne also can, sometimes, be prevented.

The Cause of Acne:

The cause of acne is hormonal imbalance and / or toxins that build up in your blood. Teens and kids get acne because of the hormone changes that come with puberty. As you grow up and your body begins to develop, these hormones stimulate the sebaceous gland to make more sebum, and the gland can become overactive. When there is too much sebum, that oil clogs the pores and leads to acne.

Treatment of Acne:

Buy gentle skin cleanser for acne, and wash daily. Over cleansing the skin, can cause irritation and may aggravate your skin condition. OTC bactericidal products containing benzoyl peroxide may be used. In females, acne can be improved with hormonal treatments.
